FASTag

FASTag has been made necessary from 1 December 2019 to avoid heavy traffic  at all toll points in the INDIA. Apart from saving time, digital payments are also being promoted through this. If you are using SBI FASTag, then you have to update it before July 5, otherwise your tag will become useless.

 Message of STATE BANK OF INDIA to customers:

SBI has alerted its customers by sending a message. The bank has written in the message that the SBI FASTag customer should update the PAN card in their account. Any customer who does not update the PAN card by 5 July 2020 will not be able to recharge Fastag.

ABOUT FATAag:

FASTag is a simple & reusable tag that works on the Radio-frequency identification technology (RFID). It needs to be affixed on the vehicle’s windscreen. Each tag is linked to a registered  wallet to facilitate instant automatic deduction of toll charges. This program is part of the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) initiative, rolled out by NPCI under the guidelines of NHAI & IHMCL.

FASTag is read by the tag reader at the plaza and the toll amount is deducted automatically, when the vehicle approaches the toll plaza. The vehicle with FASTag doesn’t need to stop at the toll plaza for the cash transaction

Customer will receive SMS alerts on his registered mobile numbers for all the transactions done in his tag account

(3)Online recharge

Customer may recharge his tag account online through, Credit Card/ Debit Card/ NEFT/ RTGS or Net Banking

(4)No need to carry cash

Customer doesn’t need to worry about carrying cash for the toll payments

Almost all major government and private banks of the country like SBI, ICICI, HDFC, AXIS BANK can take fasttags. You can also purchase Fastag online from Amazon. Fast tags can also be purchased through PAYTM. There is also a facility to buy fastags at large petrol pumps. For toll free facility from NHAI, sales centers have been set up at all toll plazas.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification for amendment in the National Highway Tariff Rules, 2008 on 15 May 2020. According to the notification, if the vehicle is not fastened and you enter the fastag lane. So the driver will have to pay double tax. Apart from this, if the fastag is not valid or functional, then in such a situation, double tax will have to be paid to the motor vehicle.
